Miranda Rosin, MLA Banff – Kananaskis presents Norbert Meir with the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal
Norbert Meier, past president of the Alberta World Cup Society and current Events Chair was presented with the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal this past January 25, 2023.
The Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal is presented in honnour of Queen Elizabeth II who performed her first public engagement at age 16, and at age 21 recited her ever famous quote that her whole life, whether it be long or short, would be devoted to our service. In honour of Her Platinum Jubilee, despite her recent passing, individuals in our communities that have embodied that same mantra were celebrated.
It is no surprise to our organization or anyone who has had the pleasure of working with Norbert Meier to see him receive this award: “For over 40 years, Norbert has been applying his vision and energy to making Canmore, Alberta and Canada, a serious partner in the world of elite level cross-country skiing. This has been accomplished through his volunteer efforts in organizing major cross-country ski events that have a lasting economic and social impact.”
