“All systems go” is the word for the January 15 World Cup test event in Lake Louise.
This is the first race of the 2015 Westerns and will be an Open/Masters race on the proposed course for Ski Tour Canada 2016 in Lake Louise, Banff National Park. Parks Canada and Banff/Lake Louise Tourism are welcome partners for this event. Race start is 10:00 AM on January 15. Additional information and links to race registration can be found here.
On January 3, Parks Canada issued this tweet: It’s official! Haywood NorAM 2015 Western Canadian Cross-Country Ski Championships, Lake Louise, Jan. 14-15. The same day, the Alberta World Cup Society Organizing Committee conducted its final pre-race site visit and confirmed that conditions (i.e. snow cover) is sufficient to hold the race as planned.
On Monday, January 5 a PistenBully 100 grooming machine was brought on site and began grooming operations on January 6. Watch Westerns web page for any notices of temporary trail closures during grooming operations. There will also be some trail closures on January 14 (Training Day) and January 15 (Race Day).
