The Alberta World Society is proud to announce a record number of athletes and nations will compete at the 2024 COOP FIS CROSS-COUNTRY WORLD CUP Feb 9-13 at the Canmore Nordic Centre.
More than 190 of the world’s best cross-country ski athletes from 20 nations, and 200 members of their support staff are slated to arrive in Canmore for the event, leading to one of the deepest World Cup fields of the season. Powerhouse teams such as Norway, Sweden, Finland and the United States have confirmed their attendance, as well as several countries who haven’t previously raced in Canmore, including Ireland, Taipai, and Andorra. Individual athletes will confirm their attendance in the coming weeks. Up to 16 Canadians will compete at the event.

The increased number of teams and staff will have a positive economic impact within the Bow Valley. The world cup will bring an estimated 2500 hotel stays to the Bow Valley, as many teams will begin to arrive in Canmore during the first week of February. Races will be broadcast around the world to millions of viewers, showcasing the beauty of the Canadian Rockies. The Alberta World Cup Society and Tourism Canmore-Kananaskis are working closely together on this world class event.
