A Taste of Winter is prepared by
Patric Stettler – Patric returned to the Bow Valley in 2011 to join Canadian Mountain Holidays and is currently Chef at the Valemount Lodge. Located in the Cariboo Mountain range, Valemount Lodge offers an exclusive program for groups of up to 10 people.
Born in Switzerland, Patric immigrated to Canada as a child with his family – growing up on skis in the Bow Valley with his friend Stef. While Stefan pursued nordic skiing, Patric followed alpine skiing, competing at the international level in Europe for a couple of years until the age of 19.
Following his successful career as an athlete, Patric remained in Switzerland – training as a Chef at the Posthotel Rössli in Gstaad and earned his Red Seal Certificate in 2001. He returned to the Bow Valley to join Le Beaujolais, a landmark in Banff. He went back to Switzerland in 2002 to train as a baker and chocolatier in Gstaad while studying at the Belvoirpark Hotel and Restaurant Management School in Zurich. Highlights of his life in Switzerland include making cheese on an Alp in Lauenen, acting as a ski instructor in films and owning an art gallery and restaurant in Rougemount.
Jaz Nadeau – Sommelier, Manager of Canmore Wine Merchants. Jaz has an amazing ability to describe food and wine in both official languages! He’s been sharing his warm personality and technical mastery of the fascinating world of wines and spirits with residents and visitors to the Bow Valley since 2008 when he joined Canmore Wine Merchants – Purveyors of Uncommon Wines, Spirits and Beers. Jaz studied the intricacies of pairing food and wine with the Wine and Spirit Education Trust in Calgary (2009) and Vocational Studies Accreditation in Sherbrooke, Quebec (2007), graduating first in class. Prior to becoming a Sommelier, Jaz worked as a Fine Dining Server and Wine Steward in high-end restaurants in Québec, Alberta, Nova Scotia and Australia (2002-07). He has a Diploma of Vocational Studies in Food Services (2002).
Stefan Kuhn – Chef, Red Seal Certified, SAIT Polytechnic Calgary, worked in Banff, Canmore, Edmonton and Australia until 2005 and competed in his first World Cup race in December 2005. He is also a former National Champion and was a member of the National Ski Team for 15 years (1996-2011). AWCA welcomed Stef to our coaching staff in 2011.
