Alex Harvey will lead Canada at the cross-country ski world championships in Falun, Sweden, but he’ll have plenty of company from his Canmore-based teammates.
Olympians Devon Kershaw, Ivan Babikov, Perianne Jones, Len Valjas, Jesse Cockney, Graeme Killick and Emily Nishikawa will join Harvey on the world championships team, while Olivia Bouffard-Nesbitt was also asked to join the team after a 12th-place performance at the U23 world championships.
Harvey and Babikov qualified for the team by recording top-12 finishes over the past two years, while Kershaw earned his spot thanks to securing a top-30 ranking last year. The rest of the team was selected based on coach’s discretion; weighing considerations such as maximizing entries, budget and trip purpose.
